David Byrne of the Talking Heads once said that he tries to write about smaller things (such as a house, groceries, book, paper,...), as opposed to subjects such as life and love. Inspired by that statement, I have decided to create a typographical cover for the band, made out of typography taken from the objects mentioned in their songs.
I have chosen a couple of different objects:
1. My electric guitar (inspired by the song "Electric Guitar")
2. Jordan Peterson's book (inspired by the song "The Book I Read")
3. A screenshot of my computer screen (inspired by the song "Burning Down The House")
4. A trash bin (inspired by the song "Cities")
5. A number of different groceries (inspired by the song "Life During Wartime")
All of these objects provided typography for the final solution. After cutting different letters out of different objects, I created a set of selected symbols, and tried out numerous compositions, until settling for a simple, centrally-aligned, straightforward one. Later, I also created an alternative cover inspired by the color palette of the album "Remain in Light".
