There are a great many materials that can be used to create original and often unpredictable typography, especially when connected to a message of a specific song. The vinyl covers for "In Cold Blood" by alt-J, and "Meat is Murder" by The Smiths prove that. Although created two weeks apart, they both provide a nice contrast for each other and work even better when presented together.
alt-J - In Cold Blood
As its name might suggest, "In Cold Blood" is a song about a murder. However, its creation was purely accidental. I have hit my thumb with a door and started bleeding heavily. Inspired, I used my own blood to spell out the numbers of a binary code that opens the song.
The Smiths - Meat is Murder
On the contrary, "Meat is Murder" was created completely intentionally, as a way to commemorate my first six months of being vegan. The title of the song was simply spelled out of tofu, chickpeas, carrots, and leek.
One of the many ironies of pairing these two together also lies in the fact that I am highly against the meat/dairy/animal industry, and do not like any other creature's blood. In that context, the usage of my own blood for the other cover becomes pretty ironic.
