60/90

What would have happened if some of the classic acts of the 1960s went grunge and released an album in the 1990s?

Having been fascinated by the grunge aesthetic of the "Ray Gun" magazine for quite a while now, I have decided to combine the visual approach of a "messier" layout found in the 1990s design with the bands who originally had a completely different visual approach. The Doors, The Beatles, and Pink Floyd are all groups that originated in the 1960s, when the psychedelic, distorted and colorful visuals dominated the scene. While wanting to explore the possibility of visualizing the characteristic of these three bands through a lens of a different period of time, I have created three separate vinyl covers for their respective "greatest hits" albums.

The solutions came to existence after the analysis of the "Ray Gun" layouts, as well as the original 1960s artworks of each of the bands in question. Each cover concentrates on depicting the feeling of each band as closely as possible without losing the grunge atmosphere. For example, The Doors are designed to be darker and denser than The Beatles, who appear lighter, while Pink Floyd uses a background reminiscent of the spatial sound that defined their 1960s era.

Some of the fonts used include Bodoni, Rockwell, Montserrat, Blur, etc.
